Egg colorizations

Hello! All of my gals should be brown egg layers. I've got Speckled Sussex, RI Reds and a handful of mixes (australorps). Anyway! I've been getting a nice variety of very light to pinkish brown eggs - but I'm curious about the occasional ones that are speckled! When I wash them, the speckles come off with a little rubbing.

Is this just a defect? Is it necessary for me to scrub the specks off before using them? Thanks!

A brown egg is a white egg colored brown. The spots are just dots of color. The hen has a glitch in her egg production but it's all cosmetic. My welsummer do that all the time.

Thanks! I figured it was fine - I just thought it was odd that the color wore off. But it makes my brown eggs prettier, so I'll take it!

Is the glitch coming from her diet, do you think? They've got their layer feed always accessible but mostly they free range.

I have OEs that I hatched out of my welsummer eggs and they too have dots on their eggs. Its genetic.
