Egg colors

I am doing something now allowing me to observe. Laptop computer with WiFi allows me write and observe. A chair is set in shade very close to nest so I can see and hear everything. No sneaking required.

Are you using the laptop for watching or as the camera?

Laptop is for writing a manuscript. Once in a while I look over and see who is on nest. They produce a distinctive sound in approaching the nest.

I can tell which chicken laid which egg, either because I see the hen in the nest, or just from the egg's color, shape, etc.
My hens prefer one nest box over the other too, although they change which one they like better. I have 2 nest boxes, for originally 6 chickens but now I have 7. When my hens were younger, they would crowd into the same nest box and try to lay there together. Once, I caught three of my chickens, two of them quite large, all squished together into one nest box while the other one was empty.

Some like to 'lounge' no matter their age.
Put a fake egg in every nest, that should help 'spread the love'.

I do have 2 fake eggs. I guess I could get some more.

It can get too hot some days. Back in AC now.
