Egg Colors

Can a hen lay a speckled egg and then not lay a speckled egg? And also can the color change slightly? My chickens are laying brown eggs can the shade change a little? I have 2 red rocks (one started monday and they both layed on Tuesday), 2 RIR (1 started on Thursday and 1 started today), and a BO (her 1st one today) that are laying. I have 11 eggs thus far and only one is speckeled.

yep, they can change a little (not a lot). I had a BO who's eggs would get more speckled if she got a large amount of mealworms for treats.
