egg colours

Yep, EE!! We have one and she is very similar looking to yours! Ours might be a bit lighter and more silver though! Beautiful bird and eggs!

Ameracaunas are purebred chickens, while Easter Eggers are apparently crossbreeds. How they are crossbred I do not know... it has not been made clear to me.
I do know that Ameracaunas are a single color, while EEs can have several variations. Mine have gray, gold, lavender, and several other colors on them. Purebred Ameracaunas will only be black, for instance. Or orange, or white....

Also, Ameracaunas only lay blue eggs. EEs lay blue OR green eggs.

Well, Dutch, you got some of it right....
Ameraucanas are a pure breed developed from Araucanas. Both of those breeds lay blue eggs, and there are standards for colors for both. The Araucana has two distinguishing characteristics; tufts like a mustache almost and are rumpless (no tail that sticks out). Ameraucanas come in a variety of colors, but they all should have beards/muffs and should have slate to almost black legs.
Easter Eggers are mutts. Somewhere in their lineage there is Ameraucana or Araucana that most often will leave the EE to produce a green egg (many shades of green are out there) or blue BUT they can also just lay a brown egg too. There is not standard color for EEs, but some are absolutely beautiful. Most of them have green legs, but not always. I know this because I have them and have bred them and have gotten different combinations. They are FUN, but there is nothing standard about EEs, it is the luck of the genes on what you may or may not get.

All that being said,
joejoe, your dark hen is an EE. There is not doubt about it, especially since she is laying green eggs. Your SLW looks pretty standard except for a little funny coloring in her tail, but you apparently just have these for eggs and pets, so it doesn't matter.

Welcome to BYC. Have fun with you new addiction, because trust me, if you are on here, you ARE addicted!
