Egg Crate Hatching . . . how to details needed

Lockdown is tomorrow so I need some quick information. I have the basic jist of how this works. . . cut the cups down and cut out the bottom for air flow. Leave a "dance floor" in the middle of the incubator. My questions are:

1) I am not planning to re-use cartons, should I use the cardboard or the styrofoam one?

2) Do they eggs stay large side up, or should they sit sideways.

My chicks are at high risk for being stuck because my turner was not working for the first 10 days of the hatch.

Cut them down as you said and I'd use styrofoam. The cardboard soaks in your humidity and allows bacteria to start growing if it is present. Put the eggs in the carton small end down. I have some ducks hatching in a carton as we speak. I didnt have time to cut the carton down before I noticed the pips. I just ripped the lid off of it and placed the eggs in and moved them to my other incubator for hatching. Hope this helps.
