How necessary is it? I see that Brinsea sells some egg disinfectant on their site. Is it really necessary or may I ask what do the rest of you hatching experts do as far as preparing your eggs for hatching?
I am going to be a first time ever hatcher(I hope) and want to do everything in my power to make sure it is a successful one.
Thanks,
Steve

I just gently wipe off any poop on the egg with a dry paper towel, but usually, if they are really poopy, I don't even collect them for hatching. Most eggs are fine right from the nest, just an occasional poopy one. I never wash eggs for incubation, which can actually push germs into the egg since the shells are porous.
