Egg eating chicken

I have a older hen i think is eating the eggs, so i built some new nesting boxes with the roll away paint trays. How do i get them to start using it?

you can put fake eggs in there it will make them want to lay there

Ok but they are laying in the floor right now. I made the nesting boxes more elevated then the others i had in there. Should i lower it closer to the floor?

We use a small opening to nest boxes to promote use. I've seen some cut a circle for entrance but I just cut a 9x9 or 10x10 inch square. It makes the nest dark and protective, a naturally prefered area to lay and brood eggs.

Never used fake eggs and all the birds "get it" as to where to lay immediately using this method.
