Hello and good evening. I have a question for you all that is leaving me stumped. I've had chicken's for 8 years and I currently have 11 chickens and a roo who free range. Get plenty of compost and get a balanced layer plus what they get free ranging. That being said I now have an egg eater. Not just a crushed egg but a an egg that'd been pecked and drained going on #6 now😡. I have rollaway nest boxes but I have seen my chickens crain their heads under into the rollaway part and roll the eggs back out. 🙄. The other funny thing is this chicken is only targeting one kind of eggs and only in the nest box. They are not touching the egg laid next to the nest box or even in the coop. Eggs are collected daily. There is also fake eggs in the nest box. Any one have any suggestions other then culling, I would but I can't figure out who it is, roll away nest box or mustard bombs ( didn't work). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to nip this in the butt before I get more egg eaters. Thank you-toady

Is the roll away new?
If you have a game camera, you could put this in the coop to try to catch who is doing the egg eating.
I personally am not a fan of culling unless the chicken is suffering.
When I had an egg eater, I tried my best to collect the eggs more often than usually. This did help.

Show us your rollaway nest?
Is there a curtain between nest an collection trough?

There is also fake eggs in the nest box.
How do you keep a fake egg in a roll away nest?
