Egg Eating Chicken

I have (at least) one hen that eats eggs, the odd part is they get calcium (oyster shell) every day. I was just curious if it was possible for a hen to eat eggs for no reason. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Has this hen eaten eggs repeatedly? Are you giving your flock protein treats (peanuts, sunflower seeds, quinoa, soybeans)? Are you feeding your chicks egg shells without baking (to remove taste and possible protozoan) and crushing (to decrease relationship between shape of egg and yumminess for chicken to eat) Do you remove eggs on a regular basis, once or twice a day? My Grandpa says that an egg eating chicken is ready to be dinner, but he was a farmer. I don't agree with this personally, there must be a better way to stop this horrible habit. I hope someone more experienced is able to give you some advice. Good luck
