Egg fertility experts chime in!

When football is on and they mention "The Frozen Tundra" they mean Wisconsin.

I'm getting pretty tired of frozen anything by now. Come on spring!

Looks like you have three eggs in the first picture, right? The one beside the broken one is fertile and other one looks fertile also. Can't tell on the broken one. It is always good to put your eggs in the incubator at the same time. In five days you can see development when you candle them. I toss the clear ones at 10 days when I candle them again. What kind of eggs are you hatching?

Only two eggs. The top one is a grocery store one and the bottom one is from a local farm. I don't know what kind of eggs they are. I should have asked. The eggs from the breeder that I am waiting for are ameracaunas.

Well the one with the bullseye is certainly fertile. I doubt it would be from a store!!! LOL. Good luck on your hatch. I am hatching out EE's as we speak. Out of thirty I have 6 hatched already. One hatched with some help as it pipped on the wrong end. It certainly would have died had I not intervened. But it didn't. Had legs over its head and couldn't push out. But he's fine now.

Yeah the fertile one came from a local farm. The infertile one from the grocery store. I broke one of each to compare them since I've never looked at an egg to see if it's fertile before and wanted to be able to compare my questionable farm egg to a known infertile. It was easier to spot than I thought and I was super pleased.

I could have just *asked* the farmer if they had a roo...but where's the fun in that??? I want to go back and ask what kind of chickens they have though, so I'll know what is likely to pop out of these eggs if they hatch.

Good luck with the eggs. Wish me luck too with my Chocolates.
