how do I know if an egg is fertile? If a hen is broody, do I just put an egg under her that was laid from a hen that the rooster 'bothered'? Thanks.

Well if that 'bothering' took the form of mating, the eggs laid by a hen will probably be fertile for up to 2 weeks after she has been 'bothered'. Yep, put the eggs under a broody hen and in 21 days you should have chicks.

Next time you crack open one of your eating eggs, look for the little white bulls eye on the yolk. More info can be found here.
