I'm going to be a co conspirator, enabler and partner in crime with the son in law because he wants chickens

2 dozen give or take an egg or two. We are currently getting a colorful egg basket daily now from Bielefelders, Crested Cream Legbars, ISA Browns, 1 White Giant, 1 Dark Cornish, and 3 hens that are of a Heinz mix.

12 but only 10 made it home safe. Polly jumped out of a nest box to object to me checking on her broody sister, and the egg she'd been getting ready to lay pretty much fell out of her from about four feet up and smashed on my boot. Another cracked in my pocket, though luckily only the shell and not the membrane.

I hear raw egg gives a great shoe-shine!

16 today! And it's not even 5pm! Very exciting (and no yolk covered eggs!)

Just 2 today! The girls are all just starting to get on a regular schedule. Based on the colors I've gotten so far I'd say 3 or 4 of my 11 newbies have started laying.
