Egg has stopped cheeping

Pics
Glad crumpet made it! If you have time - would love to see pic of newbies all fluffed out!
I’ll try and get some of Crumpet tomorrow! We may have another over the weekend, so poor little one is alone for now. Crumpet was so desperate to go with the mamma hen, but she started kind of pecking at him and I wasn’t sure whether it was a maternal peck or I’m going to eat you peck, so I took them out. This is Muffin, the one that hatched with the broody.

Generally speaking adding chicks after a broody is up and moving doesn't go well. Younger chicks can't keep up and the mother sees them as intruders.
You’re right - these guys would not keep up! I did show mamma one - baby got super distressed as they were desperate to go with mamma, but I wasn’t sure what mamma was going to do…she kind of pecked but it could have been motherly, I don’t know. And I wasn’t sure how to interpret the noise she made either, so we separated them. Such a shame as mamma takes care of everything!

how many eggs are left now? How are they doing? How is Muffin, Crumpet and mama doing?
So we have two eggs in lockdown, and one more in the regular incubator. All alive but we’re concerned about the last one as it seems to be very slow, but we’ll just wait and see. And we had a third baby hatch after Crumpet - we must have put them super late into lockdown as they were only there for a day. Didn’t even know they’d internally pipped as they were very quiet! So after all the stress so far so good - all the eggs we removed from the incubator were infertile, so we only lost one baby hatching so far. We’re sold on safety holes now 😂 Muffin, Crumpet and Pancake (we think) are doing great, though the two without mamma are very demanding!
