Egg hatched 8 hrs ago, not walking yet

Great brooder conversion! :thumbsup

Reminds me of the Aladdin tale - watch out for any flying carpets trying to land on it!

So little Xena now has a brooder full of roommates.
Glad that you could not resist!
As for now, Xena is happy to have some friends.
Just what she needed.
why Xena is scratching at her face? I checked her skin and there's a little red irritation on her neck and I'm going to check her mouth and ear in the morning to see if maybe she has a piece of egg shell stuck somewhere.
Check inside her mouth, she might have something like a piece of eggshell stuck as they instinctively start to peck at anything that gets their attention.

So little Xena now has a brooder full of roommates. I wasn't able to find anyone locally that had any day old or up to 3 day old chicks, so I went to tractor supply. Big mistake. They had just gotten chicks in today so they had a large variety. If we got what the tag said then we got 3 cream leg bars, 2 light brahmas, 1 Sapphire gem, and 1 golden comet. They are all supposed to be females but we will see in a few weeks I guess.
One of your cream legbars is a boy…they are sexed at hatching. The one with the dark eyeline is a girl, :) The boy has the pale yellow head and less prominent (faint) eyeline (behind eye)

They’re adorable. I love hatching, on my third run this year and one more to go!

I guess I'll be building a bachelor pad then. Lol With hatching all these eggs I know I'm going to end up with a lot of roosters that I can't keep.

Which one is the boy? These 3 are the only leg bars I got, or so I thought.

Those don’t look like my legbar chicks….tnose looke like EE or something else. The two I outlined in the other post resemble legbar chicks.
The two you circled are supposed to be light Brahmas. The feathers on their wings are starting to look like it based on the brahmas we have, but I guess we'll see what they turn out to be. Always a surprise when you get tractor supply chicks.

I know it’s already been settled and don’t take my word as I’ve only hatched once, but I hatched some ducklings not too long ago and they had issues trying to stand because the floor was so slick. I made an executive decision with the first one to put him straight into the brooder after waiting a couple hours, and not long after that he was standing. As the next ones hatched, I didn’t wait and immediately threw them in there too. They also had an issue drying off with it being so humid in the incubator. I love your brooder!

Yeah, it’s a gamble… the others look nothing like legbars. So there’s that. I have several in my brooder now. The two I circled look like legbars, and not like light brahmas, which don’t have eyelines and are much more yellow.

But sources and breeds are questionable with large hatcheries. I buy my eggs from NPIP, APA breeders.
