Is it possible that they had started to develop while in storage??

I kinda doubt it....needs 100F/37.8C.

Wonder if you could take the older chick and 1 of the youngers and put them in the brooder for a day or two, then slip them back with mum after dark once the other eggs are done?

37.8 is cooler than a summers day in Perth Im not joking, its gets to 42 or 43 here sometimes, and if you don't have air con, so does your house.

Maybe it did start to develop just sitting...
...you'd think she'd know not to store in that warm a place tho, right?
