egg hatched this morning!!

My buff orpington has been sitting on 4 silkie eggs and one hatched this morning! (Hopefully more will hatch later today...)

My question is- should the new chick be under the hen with the other eggs? It seems like it should, for warmth, but should I worry about it getting squished? How long should the chicks stay under the hen, if so?

When do the chicks start eating? Should I just have some food and water nearby for when they're ready?

Am I being overprotective and the mom will take care of everything?

Don't worry babe, your broody knows when the chick needs to be warm and when it needs fresh air lol.
My broody's bring the chicks outside on day 3-4 and teaches them to find food and water....put them food and water inside and outside
