Question for first time egg hatching, I had 2 babies hatch on day 20 and had to remove them because they were dry and all over the place. These 2 were born through the night. Today is day 22, the other 3 eggs in there have no pipping so far so I’m a little nervous. Do I just keep them in there another day and hope something happens? These are all silkie eggs if that makes a difference.
Thank you in advance!

Some may take longer than other's, you should be fine! They take about roughly 21 days to hatch so just a day off probably doesn't mean any harm unless the egg was infertile or passed previously. If no further chirping or pecking/piping/cracking continues after a few days, they may have passed away... To try and prevent that, don't open the incubator, make sure the temp and humidity is correct, don't turn the eggs, let the eggs lay on a flat and sturdy surface in the incubator like the bottom or wire that's on the incubator bottom, don't touch the babies, let the hatched chicks in the brooder overnight ( it won't hurt them and will almost get the other's to hatch ), and make sure the brooder is warm and has plenty of water ready for them! They may not eat in the first few days because they absorbed the yolk and other nutrients, so they should be wanting to scratch around in 1-3 days of hatching! Hope that helps! :wee

I've never owned silkie's, however, I've heard that they can be difficult or different from other chicken breeds...Hope all goes well!
