I have 5 hens. Will an egg hatch without a rooster???

Your hens will lay lovely, delicious eggs without the need of a rooster.

In order for chicks to hatch from those eggs you need a rooster to fertilize them.

If you have a broody hen (a hen wanting to sit on eggs) you can get her some fertile eggs. If this is not possible and you want to break the broodiness, lock her out of the nest, break it up, collect the eggs ASAP and in a few weeks she will move on past the broodiness. Collect the eggs several times a day (if you can) and eat the eggs being produced. Don't leave eggs under a broody hen that will not hatch. If they burst you will have a nasty mess to clean up.

I hope this helps you.
