We have 6 rhode Island red hens and 1 rooster. Not sure what breed he is. Every day we have been getting eggs and every day I find one broken on the ground and egg all over the rooster. The hens have a good area to lay and also seem to want to lay in the same nest box. I am puzzled at what is happening to this other egg. I also know the darn crows get in there. Is it the crows trying to take the egg or the rooster or I am even thinking one hen is laying where ever and then the rooster gets it. I have also put a pic of the rooster here if anyone can help. ( what breed is he ) Thanks to all that can help.

arnt the girls redstars? and the rooster a red star rooster??? And, if the egg is soft and seperate from the others, then it might not be the end of the world... If mine are going to lay a faulty egg, they dont lay with the other eggs and it gets munched. Scarred me to death but they absolutly do not touch the eggs in the nest except to tenderly put under them while laying they're own.
