Hello! So I plan to add on to this more in the future when I get more of the girls laying into the nesting boxes, but I have 4 eggs that I’m unsure who’s they are. I believe there are two from each chicken, but I’m not sure which breeds they are.

Possible layers:
-silver laced wyandotte
-Calico princess
-cuckoo maran(she’s actually locked up with her babies so it’s not hers)
-Salmon Favorelle(also locked up with her babies so it’s not hers either)
-Midnight Majesty Maran
-Sapphirre Splash
-White leghorn
-Polish crested

So ik that they are for sure not the 2 mamas or the LH and polish, but I’d thought I’d include them in the list for any future additions to this post. Also, for further additions I’m going to add the babies who are 2 months old now, but for obvious reasons they can’t lay yet so it’s not theirs either😂
-buff brahmas
-dark brahmas
-Mystic onyx
-Silkie
-Praire bluebell eggers
-Easter eggers

And for the baby babies
-white Leghorn x lavender Orpington
-salmon favorelle x LO
-Salmon favorelle x light brahma

also if anybody has any examples and pictures of their chickens eggs that are the same breed as mine it would be awesome for future identification! Thank you so much!

The left eggs are from your Maran, The right eggs are from your Sapphire splash. They look too dark for the Wyandotte.

Easy way to be sure,,,,, is to place some food color onto said chickens vent. Then view egg, and determine if dye transferred onto egg. Lipstick is another option to use.
Best way to apply would be using a gel type lubricant with the color pigment mixed in.
Of course,,,, just waiting out a hen in nest-box, and then checking the new layed egg,,,, is probably surest,,, but not always possible.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

If you really want to know for sure....
You're gonna need to stalk the nests and catch them in the act.
Or use gel type food dye on the vents.

Thank you! I’ve never heard of doing the vent method so I’ll have to try that! Unfortunately one of the chickens keeps cracking all of the eggs so I’m having trouble even getting eggs in the first place but one I get her sorted out I’ll have to try that! I am planning on locking each laying hen up for a day or two until they lay and then marking down what their egg size, color etc is so I can know for the future first hand, but I have to wait for all of the babies to grow up to do that. Thanks again for your help!

I’ve thought about getting a camera for in there so I can not only see who’s laying eggs but also who keeps cracking them open! It would also be nice to monitor who’s not getting along with who if someone is bullying others and who their comfort friends are so if I need to isolate one if something ever happens like a hawk attack I’ll be able to let them have visits with their comfort buddy so they don’t get sad. Ik some ppl may think that’s stupid, but chickens are really smart and intelligent creatures who make bonds, plus I think a chicken cam would just be cool.

I bought a cheap Wyze camera just for this. I loved it! Sadly I moved and dont' have wifi anymore :(
