Egg internally pipped but not externally???!!! HELP?!

Hey I have one french rouen duck egg in my bator- it poked through the air cell at about 10 this morning and it's been wiggling a lot and I can hear it tapping at the shell, but I can't see any external pip. Is it possible that it is pipping down instead of up? Should I help it after a certain time? How long does it usually take from internal pip to external pip to hatch? This is my last egg and I really want it to hatch. Today is day 28 of incubation.

Not sure about ducks but chicks can take quiet a while to hatch once they start. They aren't very strong so it takes a while. I hear too many tales of people getting anxious and trying to help and wind up hurting the little one.
