Day 17 and egg is moving…
The only surviving embryo from a batch damaged by shipping.
Do I assist?

I am assuming it is a chicken egg. Which can start moving and peeping. A few days before they hatch. Be patient, just let it be, it will be fine and hatch on it’s own. When it is ready.

Yes - a chicken egg. Thank you for the reassurance! I’m just sorely conscious that it might need an assisted hatch.
Should I candle it to see if the beak has gone through into the air cell?

Day 17 is still early. Let nature do what it does. I’m sure it’s just fine in there.

If it is strong enough to move the egg around. It is doing fine. At this time the less intervention the better. Even though I know the temptation is hard to resist. Especially when it seems so much has already gone wrong. Hopefully in a couple more days you will have a nice healthy chick wobbling around your incubator. Best of luck. Post a pic when it does hatch.
