EGG JUST "FELL" OUT !

I just walked in the "COOP" & one of my LARGE breed cornish was walking away & BLOOP an egg just fell out of her! I picked it up & it looked OK except that is was quite a bit smaller than usuall . WHAT I WAS disturbed about is it looked as though there was some yolk was on the outside of the shell. (yellow) I went outside & cracked it. the egg although small looked OK.
any ideas on the yellow?

EDIT the shell was NOT BROKEN when I picked it up.

i would like to know the answer to this as well, because yesterday i found an egg in the nest box with yellow yolk on the outside of it too, and no sign ANYWHERE of another eaten egg. I thought maybe it was that thing where an egg has broken inside of the chicken, and if there was something i should be doing. However, I will say that the chicken that layed this egg acts completely normal.
