I have a Exec Leghorn hen who lays her egg on the dirt in the run almost every single day. I have seen her do it and it just kind of falls out while she is walking. She also makes a big fuss in the next box every day and sings a loud egg song, although usually she has already laid her egg on the ground earlier so nothing comes of her nest box antics. Very occasionally she will actually get one in the nest box. I sometimes find her eggs on the ground under the roost as well. Whats up with this? I used to think it was just her adjusting to laying when she was younger but I would have thought she'd have gotten the hang of it by now!
