Hi all!

Today is day 6 of receiving our first eggs from the girls. We have 3 barred rocks and 3 buckeyes - all 5 months old. The barred rock with the largest comb has been laying 1 a day (with the exception of day 2 which she didn’t lay any at all). Today, I noticed the middle barred rock laying an egg. Turned out to be a double yolk! I wonder if she’s been baking that egg for an extra long time.

This is our first time raising chickens so it’s been very exciting and fulfilling watching them grow up.

I’m so thankful to them for providing nourishment for us. It’s really an amazing thing!

I know! Hey, where did you get your call ducks from? I want to add some to my flock next year, did you get them online?
No, we got them from a private person, but I wouldn't recommend him. These poor babies have no idea about food other than pellets, and really have never been held. They were very stained from never having their water changed. I understand not everyone wants to make them pets, but these are totally feral. It's sad. They are at least not biting us anymore, but they are nothing like the ones we raised from 1 day old. :(

Yeah I would rather hatch my own or get ducklings. I’ll look into it more. Thanks!
