I have 11 hens and and they all stopped laying around October lat year and I got my first egg last Thursday the 13th and I have got one egg each day since, but I want to know if there is a way to encourage the other 10 to start laying I have put false eggs in which got the first one to lay but if u have any ideas please help

You might want to give people more than four minutes to reply before you get antsy and start bumping it

It really isn't about "tricking" them into laying - it's about their biology kicking in. While it may seem that your placement of the false eggs jump started the arrival of the eggs you are getting, but it is more than likely a matter of coincidence, not influence. As the days grow longer(season continues to change) more of your birds will start to lay again.

X2 They haven't laid since last October because of the lack of light. They're starting again now because we just passed the vernal equinox, otherwise known as the first day of spring.

http://smallfarm.about.com/od/chickens/a/Light-In-The-Chicken-Coop.htm here is a article about adding light to prolong the laying process during winter. Their bodies are triggered by light so if you extend the day light hours in winter they will lay . Read this and see what you think about it. I let mine rest personally but it's a decision you will have to make. You can also find more information about using artificial light to stimulate laying online. Hope this helps.
