When I got my first 3 chickens, at somewhere around 8-12 weeks, only 2 of them had red combs and no wattles yet. The third had an all Black comb that was much smaller. as the other two grew huge red combs and wattles. But in the last 2 weeks, Her comb has changed from completely black to completely red and is at least a centimeter or so bigger. She is probably around 24 weeks now.
One has laid eggs for about 2 weeks, The other laid her first today. and my one that used to have the all black comb should be laying anyday now.
I wouldn't worry.
