My almost 2.5 year old hen has laid several of the gel like tubes. She has access to layer feed, oyster shells, and I’ve supplementing with Calcium/D3. She did have mites early summer and I’ve treated with elector pap. No sign of mites since, but she is still missing feathers from her legs and vent/abdomen area. Otherwise,She is acting normal. Any advice is appreciated.

She may have something wrong with her shell gland or could be having a glitch in her oviduct. Can you try giving her a human calcium citrate tablet with vitamin D 300 mg orally for about 7 days, to see if her egg shells become normal? Has she just started to lay after her first molt?

I have been doing ca/d3 but not consistently. Maybe I’ll try daily for the week. She’s 2.5 so she has been laying regularly up to the last few months.
