I have 3 easter eggers that are almost 1 year old. They started off this year by laying almost everyday. Then the last couple months they have slowed down to 1 egg every few days between all 3 chickens. I did change the feed from Texas Natural non soy non gmo, to a cheaper regular feed. The Texas Natural is 18% protein while the other feed is 16%. I dont know what else it could be. Any suggestions?

It has been in the 90s last month or so. I stopped Texas Natural because of the cost. Around $30 per 50 lbs every 6 weeks or so.

I mixed in oats, cracked corn, sun flower seeds, cracked peas. They are not eating it very well.

Don’t put sunflower seeds in, and the cracked corn could probably be avoided too. Both are high in fat. The hens might just be taking a break because it’s so hot outside, as they do that.

What kind of feed do you use? Do you think it is a good idea to go back to Texas Natural? I liked it but the cost was the issue.

I use Purina Flock Raiser. I would switch back to Texas Natural, as they need more protein during the summer. If you can I would switch them to chick starter, with eggshells on the side.

This is also what I use and have oyster shell on the side. I only have 1 EE laying so far but she lays 2 days in a row then skips a day.
