My 22 week old buff Orpington has been laying eggs for about a week. Her eggs are on the small side but they are perfect. Today she really strained to get her egg out. I could hear her groaning. Is this normal?

It takes a while for the production line to stretch into shape.
Ok. I felt so bad for her. Her comb nearly turned white. She looked like she was going to faint! She also kept trying to get into my lap instead of her nesting box.

Apparently she thinks your lap is safest for the egg. Did she end up laying or is it still stuck?
She laid it but it took about 2 hours. She was really tired and I had to stand by her so she we stay in her box.
