I have 5 golden comets that have layed pretty much an egg a day since last October. They were a year in June but the last couple of weeks we have been getting 2-3 (yesterday 1) eggs. Is this normal?

'tis the season. With shorter days they're triggered to slow egg production so more of their energy goes to keeping healthy. It could also be that they're starting to molt...the seem to be just about the right age for it.

this happened to me a couple of moths ago, my seasons are dif to yours, but i was getting 0-3 eggs a day out 14 hens, pretty slow aswell but it gets better. and im sure theres a few ways of boosting there production.

Thanks. These are my first hens and didn't know what to expect in a molt but I think that's whats happening. They are free range but have noticed some "clumps" os feathers in coop, and they have the odd stray. All a learning curve, but love, love my hens!
