egg laying song

2 questions. Do roos make the egg laying sound? Do pullets practice the sound before laying first egg? I have a 15 wk old pullet/roo? who has made a croaking crow one time and now is making the egg laying buc buc bucbaducket sound.

Sometimes our hens make the noise when they haven't just laid an egg. Usually when they're out and they come running from a secluded corner and try to find the other girls. I think then it's a "where did everyone go" kind of call. We hunted everywhere for an egg down the side of our house when Hazel appeared from there one afternoon making the noise.

My Welsummer roos do the egg song all the time - perhaps they're trying to trick predators???
