do hens stop laying a certain time of the year mine started good and then just stopped

With shorter daylight hours some hens slow or even stop egg laying. Once the days get longer they will start to lay again.

Yes and no. This depends on if you light your coop during the winter when there is less than 12 hours of daylight, but some chickens are seasonal layers no matter what you do to try and keep them laying. We should start to be getting 12 hours this week
