Egg number 54 pipped internally yesterday morning, but 2pm today hadn't pipped externally, so I decided to take a peek. I really have no clue when it comes to this, but it seemed like it was starting to shrink-wrap. I made the peek hole bigger and applied warmed distilled water on the membrane and drained off the excess. It's now sitting in the incubator wrapped in wet paper towels with the humidity set to max.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Here are the pictures I took after I made the hole bigger. The white part of the membrane is bone dry and it's hard to see in the pictures, but it's beak couldn't reach the shell.

Here it as after I applied the water and now it's beak just barely reaches the shell.

Here it is all nice and moist

I stuck it in the incubator for a few hours to see if it would progress, but it didn't, so I slowly picked away the shell. There was no blood so I kept picking until it was out. I'm not sure, but this one might have curled toes and splay legs...

that they are better in the morning.

Little cutie! :clap
It looks like it's feet and legs are OK today?
Is it expecting any friends?

Looks like the legs and feet are fine, guess it just needed some time. It was supposed to have "friends", but the other 15 eggs were too old and didn't even start to develope. The next set of chicks aren't due until the 16th, so I have no idea what I'm gonna do with this one, lol.

Or did it imprint on you?  It just reminded me of my imprinted peachick that died...

I felt so sad for you when you lost yours :(. I guess it's sort of imprinted on me, but I really don't have the energy or time to raise a needy peachick, so I need to find a solution, soon.
