Egg Overload!

The chickens are sitting happy right now! I'm getting more eggs than I can handle, and I have sold some of my eggs in the past to a few people around who wanted more fresh, natural eggs. However, my chickens have been laying a lot lately, and I don't want my eggs to go bad! Does anybody have any tricks or tips to selling your eggs?

Do you work outside the home? Take some eggs to work and sell them to your coworkers. Place an ad in your local shopper paper if you have one, or on a local rummage sale site.

If you can get a candler (the flashlight app on your phone works) that'll help you pick out the ones with "meat spots" Buyers aren't used to those and they don't want them.

When I was a kid, we used to sell them to the ladies at our church. The Amish down the road have a permanent "$3/a dozen" sign.

I sell 1 dozen for $3 or 2 for $5. I rarely sell just one.
Drive around and see what backyard eggs are selling for in your neighborhood. Match the price for one and discount for two, like I do. GC

Our local co-op will buy eggs from backyard coops and sell them as "local eggs". It probably wouldn't bring in as much but you'd get a couple dollars a dozen. Also you could give them to a local food bank if money isn't necessary.

No, it's winter here, but the weather is fine and lately been staying in the 50's with little rain.
