I disagree with the whole check out the going rate and sell for less strategy. Check out the local going rate and go higher, if its $3 go to $5 Post on Facebook that you are only taking on 1-2 more weekly customers. Scarcity creates value. Never run a sale, feed them back to the flock first.

Welcome to BYC. Make sure you add your location to your profile. You might want to check your local or state regulations on selling eggs. Here in Texas, you can sell eggs from your property. However, to sell them at a farmers market or other locations, your required to have certain testing done.
If you have a rooster, you could sell hatching eggs for a higher price. Especially if you have popular breeds.

Another thought is to find out if a local food bank or soup kitchen will take them... Once all of my girls are up and running, that's my plan. Then again, I'm already giving away eggs. I wasn't planning on selling.

Craigslist with good photos and sound marketing principles (talk about what the customer gets not what you want (ie, They get better taste and more nutrition from your eggs...Not you have eggs for sale)

I realize I'm a bit late to the party here, but I wanted to add a suggestion that sounded pretty neat to me. A friend of mine sets up a table at the local farmer's market and sells his extra eggs for whatever a customer wants to pay. It's a really small market with few other sellers, so he's not irritating anyone by doing this. Here's the deal: He donates whatever he collects to a local children's hospital. He does post a sign making it clear where the money goes and he is totally legit. Sometimes he may only get 50 cents/dozen, sometimes it's $10/dozen or anywhere in between. He does very well with this, and it's much easier to send a check to the charity than trying to track down one that wants the actual eggs. Just a thought.

I'm glad this came back around from the last poster.... I just found out something else you have to look into... In Ct, apparently, if you sell even a dozen eggs a year, you have to have a permit from the state to sell them... Might want to check the laws on that in your state.
