I hope this is my female barred rock/EE hatching! We are keeping one, the other hatches go across the street. I have 3 EE/barred rock eggs, 2 barred rocks and 2 RIR/BR eggs(sex links) under my cochin. I think 2-3 will not hatch. My flashlight broke and I can't see with my spare flashlight.:/. I don't see the air sac getting bigger in 2 or 3.

Momma was off the nest and I took a peek. The hole is top right. This is my early egg. I have a spare incubator I made in case the Cochin stops sitting.

. One of my hens just hatched a black java mix today. We're just waiting on our leghorn mix to hatch

One more hatched! Three more are almost ready. I think the two hatched are both boys.:/. The father was a barred rock.

My broody is still broody. She will incubate them fine, but that is all.

SO exciting!! My Buff Orp hatched 2 babies last night. They pipped yesterday and I was so excited to wake up this morning and check on them that I couldn't sleep last night.

How disappointing that your hen devoured one! Maybe she was starving from sitting there so long.

Have the 3 others hatched yet??

No, but the second one she almost at has a big gash on its back. I honestly don't know if the one she opened was ready that survived and I caught her fiercely pecking at. It still had yolk gunk in it, but it lived and is doing very well with my other. I kinda had to block part of the brooder last night because it kept walking out from under the light and peeping in distress due to getting chilled. I did dip its beak in water just in case it was thirsty.

My neighbor was suppose to take all, but one. However, she changed her mind. I'll keep two and home the rest after they all hatch(3). I was going to have the broody raise one for all her efforts. Hopefully, I can find someone to take all 3 right away straight run. My coop can't hold all of them during the winter.

She wasn't hungry, just confused with the peeping. She just is not a good mother.:(
