Egg position

Ok, so I built a incubator yesterday. After playing with different bulbs yesterday and today I have settled on a 25w bulb. The temp is pretty steady at 99.7F and the humidity varies from 50 to 52%. So far so good. The incubator is a styrofoam cooler and my "floor" is wire mesh.

I need to know about egg positioning. Do I lay them on the mesh floor, do I put then in a egg carton? I have seen utube clips both ways and people report sucess both ways. Which is best?

By using cartons its a lot easier to turn the eggs, just prop them up against the wall of the bator, when you turn them prop them against the other wall, works great.

Depends on how you want to incubate-

I layed mine on the wire floor and had a 72% hatch rate (50% were shipped eggs).

I really don't think it matters. 99.5-101 degree eggs incubate, turned randomly (like a hen) rolled religiously (like a turner) or something in between (hand turning) or not at all (I've seen poor hatch rates reported with no turning at all)

Ok. so if I keep the eggs in a carton do I keep them pointy end down or up?
