Egg problems-where are they?

Hi All! I am hoping that someone can shed light on my problem. We have had hens for a while and have kept them in a pen at the side of the house with free run for most of the day in the garden on grass and gravel. They laid quite happily. The fox decided to visit so we moved them to the front of the house in a large fenced area on grass. We are in a very quiet area so cars at would not be a problem. We bought 4 pol hybrids which eventually managed to produce 3 eggs per day between them but they were small. A further 4 started in the side pen with no free range and soon produced an egg each per day. We then moved them in with the others and they stopped laying. We feed layers pellets and wheat half and half and they have fresh water. The only differences i can see are the ground and the fact that they have the Cockerel at the front. sorry this is convinced but all input appreciated.

The first 4 pol went straight in with rooster when we got them but they were bullied by an existing hen. We removed her and they gelled as a flock but the eggs were still very small with pale watery yolks. The last four were kept on their own till they laid on a regular basis then moved . They dropped production dramatically in a couple of days. I wondered if it is because they are o n grass and maybe need grit. Btw thanks for replying to me

Hi .it has been about 2 weeks since we moved them. The annoying thing is that 4 hybrids were laying in a small side pen and we thought they would be happier in the minister pen on grass. I can't give them the run of the garden as the fox is still around.

If they were free ranging i would say the were laying elsewhere.
If they are cooped up, it could be the move.
Are they possibly going into molt?
Or the worst possibility, you have an egg eater.
I don't think the first 3 apply but an egg eater sounds
Oedible but surely i would see some remains of the sbells

Yes you would find evidence , so they were free range now they’re in a pen ?

Change is hard on hens , grass then no grass is hard . Moulting as said above will stop laying , do you see fluffy feathers all around ??

They are sensitive creatures , just keep them away from the fox , get someone to get rid of the fox
