Yep, I have gotten dbl yolkers as well! Some purdy eggs and color palette there. Mine are rather more brown lol. But one of my ISAs laid a double yolker the size of a duck egg!
Bwahaha! So then, with all the joy my hens give me, I get eggs as well? AWESOME!![]()

How many hens, how many days worth and what kind of hens made all of those? That is a good looking egg selection!
There are a lot of experts. I lay off the higher protein feed in the summer here when it's so hot and when the birds start to molt I give the higher protein feed to them because feathers are made of primarily protein. I do show my birds at poultry show so I'm not an average backyard flock owner. I also put granite grit and oyster shells in the feeders and the birds will take what they want. In years past I put it in supposedly non tip-over bowls but the grit and oyster shells always managed to end up on the floors of the coops. I have been told by some experts that I should give it to them on the side as free choice. I do give the birds most days a little mixture of grains and seeds so I give them the grit since they don't have teeth which helps to grind it up in their gizzards. I do what works best for me and my flocks. It's my personal choice. Good luck and have fun, and do what works best for you...Ok. Well that sounds good. All I can say is some time on here they say to lay off the higher protein layer in the winter. But. That is a personal choice. I have been giving 18%due to the cold temperatures. And I know they eat more. I suppose on here some will say one. Some will say other. If you can get @Eggcessive. @sourland snd there’s another lady with a peacock. It’s like catasporty. I always forget. But they are experts
You can call me NOAH, I have two of each kind of hen.Which kind do you have...I’m trying to decide exactly which kind to buy this year...I want to get 20..a variety.
Lol is that ever a question!! Do you want heritage breeds or hybrids?? It can certainly begin the funneling process and whittle down the choices.Which kind do you have...I’m trying to decide exactly which kind to buy this year...I want to get 20..a variety.
