Hi, I am Patricia Allen, also know as Peenut63. I moved to Georgia 14 Years ago from Michigan because I wanted a decent egg. I had long ago tired of "factory eggs". So, in 2005 I ordered some baby chicks and started raising them in accordance to some books I read.

I learned more from the chickens than from the books. My chickens free range on my 22 acres that contains a half acre pond. I have raised ducks, turkeys, geese and guineas in conjunction with my chickens. Now, I just have Pekin ducks, one tom turkey and a variety of chickens; but I prefer the colorful egg layers.

I do not believe in clipping my birds wings, although I regret it sometimes when they fly upon my defenseless body. I sometimes sit and watch them for hours. They are quite intelligent and have their own societal pecking order. It took me a while to realize that the actual selection of a rooster to follow was performed by the hen. A rooster's harem must get along. Interlopers are not welcome.

Hens, like humans, like their mates to be big, strong and verile.
