I noticed that some post here about egg scales. I know some of you have them. I guess what I am trying to figure out is why do you have them and why do yall want to know how much the egg weighs?

Curiosity, and for selling, I put the medium to large in cartons to sell, and keep the x-lg and small for our use.

The size of eggs, medium, large, jumbo, etc. is based upon the weight of a dozen eggs. Then, no individual egg can be more than 10 or 25% higher/lower in weight than the others (I cna't remember the exact number).

In many states to sell eggs you have to mark on the packaging what size they are. Or in ours, we have to mark "unsized and ungraded" if we don't go through the process.

I weight mine simply because I'm curious. I also chart them on a simple Excel sheet. I just like to know!!
