Hello everyone,
I have three Australorps that were hatched last summer. They have been laying for a few months now but I am concerned about one of them. Since she began laying she has consistently had issues where it seems the egg was cracked before it was laid. She is also extremely vocal when she is getting ready to lay and I'm questioning whether or not she has something going on with her reproductive system.
Up until today I thought it would resolve on its own but as you can see in the photo there is now a reddish tint in the cracked portion. She is the only one with issues and I have set out oyster shells and they have not seemed to make a difference. When I cracked the egg open it felt soft and the yolk immediately broke. Has anyone experienced this before?
