Hi Friends,
I seems to have a couple of girls laying really thin eggs. I have plenty of oyster shell out for them and they can access it anytime they want.
Is there something else I should add? Do they just have a problem??
I haven’t run into this problem before so not sure what to do. The birds are new to my flock and still in corentine for now.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help!!

How old are your hens? Thin shelled eggs can be quite common in older hens, or newly laying hens when they are just getting started.

Give your hens some time to settle into their new home, they are most likely stressed from their move and it can be affecting their eggs. I would however, also be offering your chickens some food that has a good source of calcium, if you aren’t already. Lack of calcium affects the shells of hen’s eggs, so make sure they are getting enough calcium.

I have a listed a couple of sites that should be helpful:

https://www.backyardchickencoops.com.au/why-are-my-chickens-egg-shells-soft

Good luck with your birds! :)

I bought 5 hens that were like this. Poor feed at previous owners. Shells were very thin. It took over a month with good food to fix.

If they are in good shape/weight, give them some time. Make sure your feeding a laying pellet. As Mustangrooster said, they can be stressed or had a poor diet.
