Egg shells...how small do I crumble/crush them?

I throw them into the 'chicken scrap bowl' and usually leave 'em overnight. Crush them up with my hands and toss them into the run just so they do not look like eggs. My girls particularly like it if I've hard boiled a few eggs and happen to leave some of the egg white stuck to the shells. That is super yum for them.

Thanks, I was feeling kinda lazy after reading so many posts involving more elaborate routines. I've also noticed that they handle it just fine if there is some membrane holding the shell together. They'll shake and peck to get the pieces they want. They especially enjoy it when the kids take out the compost because they will line up the shell halves to make a "village" and then the village gets destroyed by asteroids (rocks dropped on the egg huts) creating a little smorgasbord of shells for the chickens.
