Egg shells super soft

My hens started laying. My first egg was Sunday and she laid it right next to their hanging water feeder. It was so soft that it cracked when it hit the ground, kind of looked liked a water balloon and it was also very small. I just went out to check and see if they had put themselves to bed yet and I found another egg in the little 3in deep pool of water I have out in the yard. The egg was also super soft and small. I have oyster shell available for them and they are on layer feed, but they prefer to just eat as they free range. Is there something else I should be offering? They also get lots of greens and such from my garden. Just worried there is something they are missing in their diet.

accept that it may take the pullet's body a little time to get everything fully functioning.

apple cider vinegar in the water at the rate of 1 Tablespoon to 1 gallon of water, and vitamin D3 along with extra calcium help make the best egg shells. I feed the shells from my chickens back to them....crushed up. My hens prefer chicken egg shells to oyster shells. for a really serious case I pulverize the egg shells add to a bit of feed with a crushed vitamin D3 tablet in there, and use either an egg (that never had a shell) or some yogurt or even water to make sure it all holds together.

Give you pullet some time--- and probably everything will straighten out. Never hurts to add apple cider vinegar to their water though.
good luck.
