I'm a relatively new chicken owner. Recently we received an adult bantam hen that has already been laying. We already have 1 bantam hen (that we know of) and 12 regular hens that are all 17 weeks old. Thursday, Friday, and today, we got 3 "bantam" eggs each day. We have the new bantam adult hen and our 17 week old bantam hen (we are 90% sure the other bantam are all roos) so is it possible that the other "bantam" egg isn't a bantam egg at all? Could it be from one of our regular sized 17 week old hens and it be small because the hen is still growing?? Would it be as small as a bantam egg though???

Yep... Point of Lay or POL hens first eggs are often very small. Some even may not have a yolk in it.... as they mature the eggs will get larger. and continue to get larger every year. for a couple of years.

For what its worth eggs with out Yolks have a variety of coloquial names, Wind egg, Roo egg, and Fart egg....

But its just the whole egg production line getting its act together.
