Egg size

Lol did a duck sneak in?
So this just happened.... all of our babies are the same age. We get the same size eggs everyday. We get 7-9 eggs per day, depending on who has cycled off. We didn’t collect yesterday. When we went to collect today, we either interrupted a lay, or one of them has started to lay on the clutch. Either way, we removed them all and found this one super jumbo egg compared to the regular large eggs we’ve been getting. Any reasons why??

It’s a normal thing. It’s more normal if your hens are younger of course but I’ve seen oddball eggs being laid all through a hens lifetime. That egg shouldn’t be something to worry about.

One of my hens actually tied the world record for the smallest egg!
Unofficially though but the smallest on record I found was the same size as this.

Just a bit bigger than a dime!
Wow!! That's amazing

More likely.
"lay on the clutch" or 'broody' is when you can answer yes to all these questions:
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?
If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.

So I’ve got 5-6 EE and I know only one of them is laying.
How do you know? How old are your birds, in weeks?
Here's how to tell....

I’m getting 7 white eggs from my leghorns, 1 brown from a RIR, and 1 green. It’s been consistent for about 2 weeks. They are all 25 weeks. I didn’t stay outside to watch her free ranging because it’s too hot (in FL).

Might be a good idea to confine them to the coop and run to make sure they are laying in the coop nests. Hopefully your coop and run is in a shady spot and big enough for all your birds.
Not all EE lay blue/green, they can lay white, brown, pink, etc.
Excessive heat can suppress laying too.

This is what I've found works best to deal with hot weather.
Deep all day shade is best but....

I give a dose of Sav-a-Chick electrolytes/vitamins about once a week during heat waves. It really seems to help....started this after they saved a heat stroked hen once.
Can mix up a smaller amount, just wrap the packet tight and store in a dry cool place. Always have plain water available too.

BIG(9x14x2") chunks of ice last all day for wading, sitting, and sipping.
Much more useful to the chickens than frozen foods and treats.

Make space in your freezer!

About the squatting, my light Brahma started squatting too is she going to lay soon?
Out of the twelve layers I've had over three years. It varies, but for the Golden Comets it was around 2 weeks average, after squatting. My Barred Rocks around 2.5 to 3 weeks.
The Golden Comets are a Red sex-links type of chicken and known to lay early. Mine started to lay between 16.5 and 19 weeks.
My Barred Rocks started at 20 and all were laying by 23 weeks. GC

Ok. My EE is just over 4 month and she has laid two days in a row. She started squatting first, my light Brahma is about the same age and has started squatting with no egg.
