Hi all,
I have found the egg in the photo in my chicken coop today. It is about 1 inch and when i broke it, it looked like the 2nd photo. I have one 22 months old australop chicken. I had two. Recently the other one was caught by racoon and this one escaped the attack. It's been 3 wks since the incident and she was laying normal sized eggs since then. I have seen one chicken snake months ago in the coop and blocked all the holes. Does anyone know if it is a snake egg or the chicken laid this for some reason? Thanks in advance for your help.

To me, it's a chicken egg. Not sure where you are located/what your weather is like, but "most" snakes are not active right now.
Do you still have that? If you do, can you break it open more or remove the whites?

I'm assuming in the second photo that is the shell too? From what I can see, it has extra layers of calcium (shell) on it. The "inside", to me, looks like yolk with a bit of blood. The albumen (whites) is fairly thick. Could also be where a whole ovum was released, but I don't see any veins like in the link here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...ood-ball-inside-soft-shelled-egg-pic.1324813/
The extra thick, funky shell could be from the egg staying in the shell gland too long.
Sometimes you get an odd egg - if it's a one time thing, then I would not be too concerned.

Thank you so much for your reply. No, i don't have it. I threw it out after breaking. I'll keep an eye on her.
