Egg Size

We are finally getting a few eggs! Two of our hens just started laying and we are so excited. The eggs are small we were just wondering if they get larger as the chickens get older?

Congrats on eggs! Isn't it fun?

Yes, they will get bigger. Ultimate size depends, of course, on individual breeds/birds and externals (food, clime, etc.)

Sometimes I miss those modest pullet eggs. So demure.

We are so "egg"cited that we stand outside the coop and wait for her to finish laying the egg. We have Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks mostly.
